Why do I get errors trying to access a LinkedSource from a child place in a Universe?

So I have been working on a complicated game engine in my primary building place for a while and it makes extensive use of linked scripts. I decided to start putting the engine to use in another place, and because I lack Builder's Club I made that other place a member of the Game/Universe that my building place is the head of. For some reason I can still select the LinkedSources from my main building place, but whenever I try to use any of them I get four errors for each script:

13:49:15.747 - httpGet http://assetgame.roblox.com/asset/?universeId=21813901&assetName=Scripts%2FOreScript&skipSigningScripts=1&serverplaceid=20141769 failed. Trying again. Error: HTTP 400 (HTTP/1.1 400 Value does not fall within the expected range.). Elapsed time: 0.213093

The following two are right next to each other every time they print, so I kept them together:

13:49:15.759 - Content failed for http://assetgame.roblox.com/asset/?universeId=21813901&assetName=Scripts%2FOreScript&skipSigningScripts=1&serverplaceid=20141769 because HTTP 400 (HTTP/1.1 400 Value does not fall within the expected range.) 13:49:15.760 - Content failed because HTTP 400 (HTTP/1.1 400 Value does not fall within the expected range.)

13:49:15.777 - Failed to load source (rbxgameasset://Scripts/OreScript) for Workspace.OreNode.OreScript. The LinkedSource name may have changed or been removed.

Has anyone else encountered this? The wiki doesn't seem to say anything about it.

Something else: whenever I try to re-create one of the LinkedSources with the same name as one I use in the parent place, it won't let me because the name is already taken. I can also edit the LinkedSource in one place and see the change in the other. So I KNOW I can access the LinkedSources from the child place I'm working in now, but for some reason I get these errors whenever I try to use them in-game.

I know that this is not a question strictly about Lua code, but I'm not sure where else to ask it. If this is the wrong place please let me know.

That's really weird, without actually reproducing these erorrs myself I'm not able to tell you what is going on. If you continue to have problems there is always the alternative of ModuleScripts.

I've never used ModuleScripts but they look like they would not work nearly as well as LinkedScripts for my project. The wiki page seems to say that they're useful for calling functions, but I need exact script templates, complete with individual events and variables, copied across many instances in-game. So I guess I could use ModuleScripts, if I re-worked my whole engine, but it would be a woefu

Modules script can return nothing. You can have just written code that will execute when you require the module, all you need to do is put return nil on the last line.

So I can, in essence, import an entire script through a ModuleScript? And it will import a unique script every time I do this, so that variables are not shared between them?

Well, a module script will only run once and just give back what was returned each time.  What do you mean variables are not shared between them?

It's a Modules script it does not return anything.
