Help with user input?

I have been using keydown events for key binds but I am trying to use things like shift to run, can you send me a link of where to learn this?

Wiki has a bunch of pages. Search.

Here are multiple links to the wiki that provide excellent documentation for getting Keyboard Input:

Tutorials:

http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=Keyboard_input http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=ContextActionService_tutorial

Documentation:

http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=API:Class/ContextActionService http://wiki.roblox.com/index.php?title=API:Class/UserInputService

In the future, try a quick google search and you'll be able to find many of these pages. For example, if you search 'roblox keyboard input', the second result is the first link that I provided.

Why is keydown not used anymore?

It was deprecated due to it's slightly complicated approach (keycodes) and so that all the different type of input (keyboard, gamepad, touch) are all handled in the same way.

These services are prefered over KeyDown as they contain many more useful methods that quickens development and testing time.
