I learned Lua myself from looking through models and just studying the language.

I usually just read the wiki. And watch Youtube tutorials if the wiki can't give any information.
And I'm learning a 2nd programming language.
I first learned HTML. It was my first language (even before I learned English or any other real language). From there I learned many other languages, javascript, css, xml, json, and lua.
Lua was difficult, it is not like many other languages. But I learned it like I learned every other language. Practice and view other people's work. The need for functionality gave me a clear goal to achieve. My first script in Lua was to change the time of day (it was overly complicated and had a lot of issues).
