How do you do this?

So what I'm trying to do is make a system like in miners haven where you click a button, the the item pops out with the box thing around it, and when you click the item gets placed in that area, and if you try to place in a restricted place, the box will turn red and you can't place it, I do not know how to do this or how to even start D:
