How far can I use datastore / httpservice / web apis with this idea?

>>I'm not asking for a script here, only an opinion on whether or not this idea is plausible using RBXLua.

This idea of mine has no base of a script, so I won't be questioning my skill in Lua on this post. However, I would like to know if this is theoretically possible before our developer team starts working on it.

We're planning to make a huge version of "RISK" (you know, that one strategy board-game), and I have a few questions regarding some of our plans for designing the game.

For starters, the player would enter a lobby and can join a server from a list. Each one of these "servers" leads you to a system of servers that have the same kind of server key. A server key simply identifies what system of servers it belongs to.

The entire "game" consists of 48 servers. Each server has >1< player. Each server is considered a "region" in the game. There are 16 regions per "nation" , or what will be known as a superpower within the game. There are 3 nations total, making up 48 servers. I should also note that there is 1 king per nation, it is one of the regions.

I was wondering if it was possible to do the following across servers:

  1. Can a "king" issue a shoutout-like message to all of his regions? If so, what would be used?

  2. Can one nation's region "send troops" to another nations region? Particularly through the use of saving tables using datastore.

Don't know if this post is against guidelines, but I'd like to point out that I'm not asking for any form of code here, just personal opinion on the idea.

I don't really want anybody taking my game idea, but here's an in-depth glance at my thoughts toward the game.

I'm not asking for a script here, only an opinion on whether or not this idea is plausible using RBXLua.

Okay, then I guess you want a one sentence answer.

Yes, it is.

How would you do it? The general model is: every second, the server would send a POST request over to a web-server that you own. The web-server does all of the calculations and returns the answer once a second. This would be about 60 requests per second per server, which is well below the throttle limit. Since RISK isn't a real-time game, you can afford to limit it to this much.

However, you're going to be on your own when it comes to web programming. Please do not post web programming questions here, if you run into any.
