It takes time to learn Lua for everyone, especially myself. I suggest going to wiki.roblox.com for more information and I suggest you take a look at this Scripting Book:

I self-taught myself lua. After that I went to scripting helpers and in a month, BAM, I got really good :3. I use wiki to help on events and functions and other stuff I can't remember.

It's not the real book, but it's a compilation of lessons pulled together. Since it's a compilation, I did not make this. All I've done is made it user-friendly (organized, updated, & cleaned it). I've also pulled together helpful links that gives you more exposure to scripting.
