hello everybody,
yes, it’s me again. I was aware of typed lua for a bit but only now am I trying to refactor everything, mainly function parameters and objects.
I have grown to despise strict mode, but it seems to be the only mode that effectively matches custom table types with constructors. unfortunately, setting a metatable on the new object always seems to break it, if I recall something along the lines of Unable to convert {properties} to {@metatable{properties}}. when I remove the metatable assignment it shows up fine again. I’ve also had several issues with rawset and rawget although they usually have a different error and may be a separate problem.
perhaps unrelated to this issue, I also occasionally get something like Unable to convert {properties} to |{properties}|. I am not sure what those pipes mean, but they break it just like @metatable does.
so, can somebody explain what both of those mean and how to avoid them?
one last thing, I sometimes have properties tied to __index that the interpreter does not pick up and claims they do not exist. can I avoid this?
thanks.
