COMMUNITY QUESTION

How would I go about changing the StarterCharacter mid-game?

In a nutshell - I have made multiple rigs that have different heights and limbs/attachments [like, eyes or a neck/lack of neck] - I would like to allow players to choose between the different rigs upon spawning in. I understand how to get a new StarterCharacter to work in studio, and I understand the basics of custom rigs, I just have no idea how I would go about replacing a rig in the middle of a game without changing every players rig.

My initial idea was to delete all of the children within the players character and replace it with the children of the new rig, but that seems like it would get overly complicated - especially since I would have to manually edit all the animations in addition to tracking down each child of the character.

I hope this doesn't seem like too much of a "request"; normally I'd include the code I worked with, but in this instance I simply have no idea where I'd start with this. I could probably work off of a wiki explaining how player.Character/StarterCharacters or custom rigs work - or a basic explanation of the process.

There is no way to create a separate starter character for each player without rewriting respawn logic.

Yes. You could. If you change StarterCharacter and then load the player's character it would work.

This worked for me before
