Help on making an AI script that makes the NPC look around and then chase?

I'm making a horror game on ROBLOX and I need help on something that's probably the most important part.

I'm not a pathfinder, but I need help on making an enemy walk around, and when it finds the player, it begins to chase the player.

More in depth, I'm looking for some help on making a script that makes an NPC look around in the map, and when it finds the nearest player to it, it begins chasing the player until it escapes.

If somebody could help it would be amazing.

I tried searching some help on Youtube, but almost no video has the type of AI i'm looking for.

I've also tried learning from some free models on how it works, but i can't really understand.
