I'm familiar with Roblox's Lua a little bit, but I want to step it up and expand on my skills. I want to make a move where the Player dissolves or sinks into a puddle, only their head shows surrounded by the water/puddle.

Here's some visual references of what I want to achieve. https://twitter.com/i/status/1170168148026417152 https://gfycat.com/acrobaticsandyandeancondor

I don't need a full tutorial, I just would like to know what API's I should use as reference. I know that I will probably need CFrames I think.

A short step by step vague guide is helpful as well. For example

  1. Look up CFrames.

  2. Look up "___"

  3. Then search about "___"

and so on.

If there are any other similar posts that would be helpful, please link me them!

What do you mean by 'rookie scripter'? If you're a new scripter, then don't try something like this.

You should have knowledge within Raycasting, Vector and CFrame mathematics to create liquid mimicry (whatever you call that) spells. As what @Dovydas1118 said, don't pressure yourself too hard. I recommend going for a simple project rather than skipping stages when expanding on skills.
