Can I implement blacklists for pathfinding?

Can I make certain parts not considered an obstruction to PathfindingService? PathfindingService seems very limited and I can’t implement any complex npc world interaction. If not, are there any feasible workaround?

To answer the question in the title, no. You can't implement a blacklist to PathfindingService. I've had the same struggle as you and asked a similar question in the past. To this day, I've barely found any great solutions, but here's what I've got.

  • Seeing if PathfindingService respects collision groups (it doesn't)
  • Raycasting (barely applicable but it's been suggested)
  • Implementing my own pathfinding by manually placing nodes (everything was manually placed which doesn't make this practical for large maps or maps that change often. my implementation was very buggy, and very cumbersome to maintain. didn't end up using this)
  • Disable CanCollide for parts on the server and enable it for all players locally (not flexible by any means but it got the job done for my use)

Let me know if you want me to clarify anything.
