I would use a badge because it is easy to check if someone owns a badge. A lot of games do beta testing that way even though a badge will cost you 100 robux.
Well in old game called ripull mega games you remember it those player has a beta tester tag in after beta without beta tag
Oh and if you don't want to use a badge, I would recommend using something like a bool value that you data store so the game remembers.
