COMMUNITY QUESTION

Custom character model not working?

This isn't script related, but when I put the custom model (rigged and welded) inside StarterPlayer and the name is StarterCharacter it spawns in the character, but you aren't the character. Basically when you spawn in the character is next to you and you don't control it.

Remember, I have the model named StarterCharacter and it's inside StarterPlayer. It has a humanoidrootpart, and keep in mind, I don't control it, that is the problem.

You need to use scripts to your advantage, create a way that allows the character to be controlled.

This would include a Humanoid, a proper control script (if necessary). If your character is based off an R15 or R6 character, consider doing it my way as follows:

1 - Go into your avatar editor.

2 - Make your character a completely blank template.

3 - Press play in Roblox Studio

4 - Copy your character with the Explorer

5 - Exit play-mode.

6 - Paste your character into the game.

7 - Convert the Animate LocalScript into a ServerScript.

8 - Rename the Character model StarterCharacter

9 - Place the Model in StarterPlayer

10 - Complete!
