Why is the TextLabel not updating?

Hi, this might seem a little stupid, but as I am extremely new to roblox scripting same for this website, but this is a question that I have.

while true do
	wait()
	script.Parent.Text = "test"
end

The script is a regular script, and the script's parent is a TextLabel. I don't see the TextLabel updating. The label's parent is a screenGui inside starterGui. It's not updating and I can't find the cause anywhere. Sorry if this is really stupid because it's basic.

Also, this is my first post, so sorry if I'm missing anything. Why is it not updating?

  1. You are using a server script which aint gonna replicate to the client gui, 2. you are looping its text to "test" so it will never change the text unless its test..

You have to use a LocalScript as regular scripts do not run on PlayerGui.

Okay, I copied the code into a local script, same parent and deleted the original script, and it's still not updating.

Are there any errors?

No, nothing appears in output.

Oh. It works for me. Is the script disabled (In its properties)?

No, the disabled property is ticked off.

Are you playing it with the "Run" button or are you playing it where you insert your character and stuff. You need to play it on the Insert Character mode.

LocalScripts run on the client. When you press "Run", it starts the server, not the client(s).

Oh!! That's what I've been doing wrong! It works now! Thank you so much!
