.toml file location for VS Code with Selene?

I've recently installed VS Code and Rojo. Everything works great, but I was also looking for a Roblox linter. And selene looks like the one to use: https://kampfkarren.github.io/selene/selene.html But I can't get it to work properly. I don't understand how to configure the .toml file.

Does anyone know how to do this properly?

"Scripting Helpers is a question and answer community forum for ROBLOX Lua programming."

This is about programing in Lua, for Roblox. You can check this video of a Roblox conference for better context: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czlvzEyhaBc

I'm sorry if this is hyper specific, but I thought that was the point of a Q&A website and that generic questions were the ones frowned upon. ALso, I thought these tools were common and that most of you used them, specially those who have been devs for some time now

This isn't necessarily relevant to ROBLOX scripting. I don't understand your question and the link doesn't work either

This is about using an external tool to optimize your programing in Lua, for Roblox. I came here searching for an answer, didn't find one, so I posted my own question. Then I answered it for future reference. Now anyone who encounters the same problem as me while trying to use these popular tools to code for Roblox will have an easier time

That's fine, but this is the wrong website for that

So you think this information has no value in a website about scripting?

Yes because it is a question and answer community forum for ROBLOX Lua programming

It's weird that you don't view this as regarding roblox and lua, since the question is about how to use a tool to write better code in lua for roblox, which is why we're all here. Is there a stigma against external code editors that I'm not aware of?

Found it! You just need to create a .toml file at the root of your project with the line 'std = "roblox"' (without '') and restart VS Code. So easy, yet so obscure.

Exact steps:

1 - Find the root of your project. It should have .project.json file there.

2 - Open Notepad and type std = "roblox", and save as selene.toml (not as selene.toml.txt)

3 - Restart VS Code. You should now see a a roblox.toml file next to the selene.toml you just created.

4 - You're done! Enjoy some nice linting!
