what I did to start off is just by watching dozens of youtube tutorials, my favorite tutorial creator is AlvinBlox
It helps if you start off by watching and attempting to understand the "How to make a simulator game" series by AlvinBlox. From there I was able to get a good grasp on functions, SolidModeling, general scripting, and DataStorage, which is all stuff you will use regardless of what you intend on coding.
